Ash Parish Council is seeking a full time Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer. The Parish Clerk is responsible for all aspects of council operations, including the duties of the responsible finance officer, delivering services such as the Ash Cemetery, The Ash Centre, open spaces, play areas and sports facilities, leading a team of 8 staff, managing the delivery of council projects and initiatives, and supporting councillors in their decision making.
This role will require someone who has knowledge and experience of servicing council and committee meetings, administering and managing all aspects of the Parish Council’s business. managing projects, with experience of public sector procurement regulations
The post holder will also be responsible for ensuring the council fulfils its legal obligations, including governance, health & safety and staff management. Experience in budgeting, financial management and payroll, Ideally using Rialtas and Sage software packages.
This role will require someone with excellent communication skills, experience of working in a local government environment, managing staff, finance, contracting services and joint partnership working.
Applicants must be CiLCA (certificate in local council administration) qualified or committed to achieving this within 24months of commencement in post.
We offer between 23 days holiday a year: plus, bank holidays, two additional statutory days, and a Local Government Pension scheme.

Job Responsibilities
Westerham Town Council is seeking to appoint an innovative, forward thinking and proactive Deputy Clerk, with good communication skills to be an active member of the management team, supporting the Town Clerk in ensuring the Council achieves its targets and aspirations.
The Deputy Clerk has responsibility for the Allotment, Playing Fields and Open Spaces committee arranging meetings, recording minutes and implementing decisions made. To manage two playing fields, three allotment sites and the Council’s open spaces, liaising with and managing the Grounds Maintenance Operative. To assist the Responsible Finance Officer in the management and preparation of the annual APFOS budget.
You would deal with queries coming into the Council offices from residents, District and County Councils, contractors and take appropriate action.

VACANCY FOR A FULL TIME PARISH CLERK & RESPONSIBLE FINANCIAL OFFICER

We are looking for someone who is highly organised and committed to undertake this key role. You will be responsible for all day-to-day organisation and management of the Council’s services, facilities, and finances. You will need to be enthusiastic, flexible, and community-focussed with excellent communication, advisory, leadership, management, administrative, inter-personal, accounting and IT skills.
You will need to be proactive and able to work independently and flexibly from home to successfully support Councillors and residents. You will work with external organisations, stakeholders, and the community.
Although an appropriate qualification would be preferred, the Parish Council will support an applicant following appointment to study for the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CILCA) qualification.
Hours: Full time (37 hours per week), permanent. The hours are flexible.
Salary: SCP 34 – SCP 42 (£42,403 - £50,512) depending on qualifications and experience.
Place of work: Home-based with evening attendance at meetings in Plaistow and Ifold village halls (typically 2 - 3 evenings per month). Occasional weekend working.
